Marjoram Essential Oil

Latin Name: Origanum marjorana

Chemistry:  Terpinen-4-ol, (Z)-Sabinene Hydrate, Linalyl Acetate,

Gamma-Terpinene, a-Terpineol

Aroma: Herbaceous, Sweet, Floral

Good for: Respiratory conditions, Pain relief, Stress, anxiety and sleep aid.

Energetics: Comforting and warm. It helps to ease a racing mind.

Traditional use: A herb plant that is native to mediterranean countries it was known to the Greeks and Romans as a symbol of happiness. It is used in a lot of traditional culinary dishes of the region like herbs de Provence and za’atar mix.


A wonderful and often underused essential oil that has a great effect on mind and body. It can help relieve muscle pain and cramps (1) while supporting respiratory conditions(2) and lowering stress and anxiety(3). All these properties make it a great essential oil to add to blends that target nervous and anxious minds and aid with sleep issues and insomnia due to racing thoughts and the inability to switch off at night.

Aromatically it is herbal with a nice floral undertone which makes it easy to blend with a variety of different scent profiles and brings out different notes in each.
