The business of aromatherpy, how to allign your passion with real life.

Aromatherapy is an ancient practice that has seen a recent surge in popularity as more people seek natural and holistic ways to promote their well-being. However, turning your passion for aromatherapy into a successful business can be challenging. In this blog post, I'll share valuable insights on finding your niche, creating quality products, overcoming the obstacles of starting an online business, obtaining education and certification, and more. Based on my experience in the industry, I want to help you align your passion with the practical world and build a thriving aromatherapy business.

In today's age of abundant free resources and online learning, educating yourself on any subject is easy, but staying relevant and up-to-date requires dedication and effort.

:Education and Certification

When it comes to aromatherapy, it's crucial to build your knowledge on a solid foundation of organic chemistry, anatomy and physiology, and botanical identification. Simply because a product is labelled "100% natural" doesn't mean it's completely safe to use without knowledge of possible side effects or interactions with prescription drugs.

Finding an accredited and reputable school that follows set education criteria is essential. AIA, NAHA, and IFPA list schools worldwide offering certificates and masterclasses. That is a great place to start. These same organisations are also voluntary membership-based and make you stand out as a serious practitioner among your peers.

Developing a Niche

When starting an aromatherapy business, developing a unique niche that sets you apart from other companies is crucial.

Drawing from my own experience, I realised the importance of self-care and how challenging it can be to find time for it. That's why I founded my aromatherapy brand, which emphasises the creation of functional scents that deliver multiple benefits through portable and discreet products. My brand merges evidence-based research with the traditional use of aromatherapy products and thoughtfully chosen ingredients to create practical and effective products.

Setting up a website and store

Use website builders like Squarespace to create a professional-looking website without coding experience. Give yourself time to make it more personalised and less generic than a template. You can also use social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook to promote your brand and connect with potential customers. Just be aware of the time it takes to set it up and how to link the online store with the social media platform.

Stick to your passion

Starting an aromatherapy business can be rewarding to turn your passion for natural healing into a successful career. Overcoming the challenges of starting an online business can be daunting, but with the right resources and guidance, it's possible to create a successful online presence. Remember to continuously educate yourself to stay up-to-date with the latest advancements and discoveries in the field of aromatherapy.
